As part of the performance assessments, the programme included the usual mandatory medical and athletic tests. Goalkeepers Janis Blaswich and Niklas Lomb were first up early in the morning from 08:00 CEST, followed by Robert Andrich, Jonas Hofmann and Loïc Badé. The Bayer 04 players’ noticeably good spirits were not dampened by highly intensive tests.

After Nathan Tella, Arthur and Christian Kofane had completed the various tasks relating to coordination, flexibility and stability in the morning, it was the turn of new signings Afonso Moreira and Kennet Eichhorn at midday.

Next up in the afternoon were Edmond Tapsoba, Aleix Garcia and players returning from loan spells including Victor Boniface, and Jeanuel Belocian.
The performance assessments precede the first training session of the pre-season. New head coach Carles Martínez, together with his coaching team, will be holding the first session at the training ground tomorrow, Tuesday 14 July. The session, taking place just outside the BayArena, is scheduled for 11:00 CEST and is open to Bayer 04 fans. The action can also be watched via a free live stream on bayer04.de, the Bayer 04 app and YouTube.
