Werkself review #BVBB04: Another last-minute goal to keep record run going
Bayer 04 extended their unbeaten run this season to 45 competitive fixtures thanks to another dramatic finish away at Borussia Dortmund on Bundesliga Matchday 30. At first, the game looked like finishing goalless and then like a first defeat of 2023/24 for the Werkself before Leverkusen struck late yet again. This time it was Josip Stanisic in the seventh minute of added time to spark delight among the 8,000 travelling supporters and the coaches and substitutes on the bench. Late leveller in 1-1 draw maintains unbeaten run
Bayer 04 fought to the end to maintain their unbeaten run with a 1-1 draw away to Borussia Dortmund on Bundesliga matchday 30. Niclas Füllkrug broke the deadlock in a largely uneventful encounter putting BVB 1-0 up on 82 minutes. But the Werkself again demonstrated their ability to fight back and avoided a first defeat of the season with a goal from Josip Stanisic in added time (90+8'). That means the team under head coach Xabi Alonso are now undefeated in 45 games across all competitions.

Sydney FC U19s in Leverkusen: ‘I've never experienced anything like it’
The U19 team of Australian club Sydney FC spent an eventful day at Bayer 04 ahead of Easter weekend as part of an upcoming tournament in Düsseldorf. The visit to a training session with the Werkself first team was followed by a match with the Leverkusen youngsters at the Kurtekotten performance centre. The boss of the Australian first division team, who had travelled with and is no stranger to football in Germany, drew a very positive conclusion of his time at Bayer 04.

International Women's Day: Stadium announcer Pitti Dahl – the woman with the mic
She was the first female stadium announcer in the Bundesliga and the only one for a long time: Petra 'Pitti' Dahl has been the voice at the BayArena home games since 2009. Signed jerseys auctioned off to aid palliative care unit
Bayer Vital, Bayer 04 and the Klinikum Leverkusen hospital have joined forces to raise awareness of early prostate cancer detection. Six signed Werkself jerseys were auctioned off in recent weeks, raising an impressive total of €5,390. This donation went to the Verein zur Förderung der Palliativmedizin am Klinikum Leverkusen e.V. as part of the #stellkrebsvomplatz campaign.

Bayer 04 use innovative technology on LED perimeter screens
Bayer 04 Leverkusen is the first Bundesliga club to receive specific permission from the German Football League (DFL) for the use of parallel ads technology from the provider TGI Sport in the 2023/24 season. This enables the current Bundesliga league leaders to show different advertising partners on the LED printer screens at the BayArena on national and international TV. For the alternative products of virtual advertising, the TV cameras take different images of the LED perimeter screens at defined intervals.

The cult coach and 'philosopher' is 75: Happy Birthday, Stepi.
He was one of the most colourful characters in the Bundesliga in the 1990s and established himself as an idiosyncratic coach with the qualities of an entertainer. Erich Seckler: "I was never a typical football player"
It's not easy to get hold of him on the phone. On the one hand, Erich Seckler was never one for public appearances and, on the other hand, the 59-year-old is very busy at work. The 1988 UEFA Cup winner even had to keep disappearing during our interview to lend a hand here or solve a technical problem there. Children often come into his office asking for a ball. Erich Seckler, who played for Bayer 04 between 1980 and 1992, today works as a caretaker at a primary school in Düsseldorf. Barrage of questions for Iglesias at kids press conference
What an early Easter present: a very special highlight awaited the young footballers of the Bayer 04 Football School at the BayArena as part of the Easter camp on Wednesday 27 March, as Werkself first-teamer Borja Iglesias visited the traditional kids press conference. Interview with ex-player Turid Knaak before DFB Cup quarter-final at BayArena: ‘A lot of potential’
It’s only the second time in the club's history after 2009 that Bayer 04 Women will play at the BayArena, when they host SGS Essen in the DFB Cup quarter-finals on Tuesday, 5 March (kick-off: 6.30pm). Ahead of the game, bayer04.de spoke to a former player who was on the pitch that day 15 years ago. Turid Knaak played the full 90 minutes in the 2-0 win for eventual cup winners FCR 2001 Duisburg. A year and a half later, she moved to Leverkusen and would remain here until 2017. Home game against Borussia Mönchengladbach: Road closures around Leverkusen
The final phase of construction work on the new Leverkusen Rhine Bridge will again present challenges to motorists. The A1 Autobahn between the Cologne North and Leverkusen junctions is completely closed as is the A59 from the Monheim-Süd junction.
