The Werkself beat Benfica 1-0 on Matchday 4 of the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League league phase to seal three crucial points! Both teams had promising chances in the first half, but the contest was goalless at half-time. Substitute Patrik Schick headed in to score the only goal after the restart (65’). The home side went looking for an equaliser but Bayer 04 defended passionately to see out the storm.

The Werkself consolidated their position among the top teams in the Google Pixel Women’s Bundesliga thanks to a last-minute goal on Wednesday evening. Roberto Pätzold’s team beat Hamburger SV 2-1 at the Ulrich Haberland Stadium. Kristin Kögel (14’) and Caroline Kehrer (90’+5) scored for Bayer 04. U19s suffer first defeat in UCL Youth League at Benfica
For the first time this season, the Bayer Leverkusen U19s were beaten in the UEFA Youth League. After two wins and a draw, Bayer 04 lost 5-0 at Benfica on matchday 4. The goals for the home side were scored by Goncalo Moreira (9’, 40’) and Francisco Silva (43’) in the first half. After the restart, Eduardo Fernandes (48’) and Gil Neves (55’) completed the scoring.

UEFA Youth League - U19s secure 2-2 draw against Paris Saint-Germain
The Bayer 04 U19s produced an outstanding performance despite numerous absentees to take a point against Paris Saint-Germain on Matchday 3 of the UEFA Youth League 2025/26 following on from two wins in the European youth competition. In front of 611 spectators at the Ulrich Haberland Stadium, the Leverkusen side went into the break with a 1-0 lead against the U19 team of the Champions League winners. PSG quickly turned the game around after the break, but the Werkself fought back to remain unbeaten on the European stage with this 2-2 draw thanks to a focussed defensive display.

Youth League home match against Paris Saint-Germain: ‘Be brave but not naive’
The Bayer 04 U19s got their UEFA Youth League campaign off to a flying start with two wins. After the successful duels with FC Copenhagen (2-0) and PSV Eindhoven (3-2), the top team from Paris Saint-Germain now awaits. The home game against the youngsters of the reigning Champions League winners on Tuesday, 21 October (kick-off: 14:00 CEST/livestream on bayer04.de and on the Bayer 04 app), at the Ulrich Haberland Stadium will be a challenge, not least due to several players missing from the Werkself squad - but one that head coach Kevin Brok and his team are happy to accept: "We want to get the maximum out of every game, this time too!"

Bayer 04-Future Kids: More venues in Büderich und Wuppertal
The next milestone in the still novel and successful Bayer 04-Future Kids project: Following the launch in Leverkusen, Eschweiler and Zündorf, young football players in the U8 to U10 age groups will also play and train for Bayer 04 at venues in Büderich near Düsseldorf and Wuppertal from the 2026/27 season. The children will be trained by qualified Bayer 04 coaches at the local venues as part of the project launched in 2024 and will officially be part of the club's youth set-up.

Bayer 04's service department reorganised
The 2023/24 double-winning season set new standards. Bayer 04 faced a number of challenges not only in sporting terms, but also operationally due to the increased number of enquiries. Unfortunately, the service provided was not always exemplary. In the meantime, however, the club has gone through a restructuring process. In recent months, not only have many organisational matters been initiated, but technical components have also been further developed - with a clear goal: to provide fast, competent and comprehensive help and information. Personal service has always been important to Bayer 04. And it has now been significantly optimised.

Bayer 04-HILFT day at the city library: ‘It's impressive what you can achieve together’
Bayer 04 is once again helping out for a good cause this year: For the ninth Bayer 04-HILFT day, a large part of the Werkself workforce once again got involved in a social project in the region. Following the restoration of the outdoor area of a day nursery in 2024, this time the team came together to redesign the indoor and outdoor areas of the Leverkusen City Library with great support from Lebenshilfe-Werkstätten Leverkusen and partner Coca-Cola. Club representative Stefan Kießling and some of the Werkself players were also involved in the project.

‘Very important project’ - BioBrotbox campaign with Bayer 04
Bayer 04 has again supported the annual Leverkusen BioBrotbox packing event for the 20th time - this year for the first time in the form of sponsorship. Caroline Kehrer and Juliette Vidal, two players from the Women's team, as well as U19 players Ferdinand Pohl and Nils Gernhardt helped out. He helped shape Bayer 04 for almost two decades. First from 1998 to 2004 as the commercial managing director, then from 2013 as the spokesperson for the board and finally from 2017 as a member of the shareholders committee. Wolfgang Holzhäuser today celebrates his 75th birthday.

The German double winners’ special-edition jersey to mark the club’s 120th anniversary is reminiscent of the first kit worn by players back in the 1907/08 season. ‘Positive and profitable exchange’: Thiel on DFB goalkeeping coaches meeting at the BayArena
Analysing and further developing goalkeeping together is the target of the annual goalkeeping coaches meeting of the German Football Association (DFB). The goalkeeping coaches in the Bundesliga, Bundesliga 2 and the third division, divided into regional groups, meet every year under the guidance of DFB goalkeeping coordinator Marc Ziegler. Following 2023, the meeting of the goalkeeping coaches of professional clubs from the Western region took place yesterday, Tuesday 29 April, at the BayArena for the second time. The Werkself goalkeeping coach David Thiel acted as the host of the meeting and he made an impromptu contribution.
