Spaniard Aleix Garcia joined the Werkself from La Liga side FC Girona for the 2024/25 season. Garcia signed a contract at Leverkusen valid to 30 June 2029. Speaking about his move, managing director sport Simon Rolfes said: "Aleix has leadership qualities that will be very valuable to us in the coming years. We are delighted we were able to sign him, he is an important factor in realising our ambitious goals." The 1.73 metre tall Garcia emphasised: "I was thrilled that a club like this would go to such lengths to get me. I really want to fulfil the expectations placed in me and do my bit to ensure this team and the club continue to be successful."

Vote now! Video games manufacturer Electronic Arts (EA) and the German Football League (DFL) have launched the vote for the annual Bundesliga Team of the Season. Fans of the Werkself now have the opportunity to nominate 04 Werkself players for the top eleven of the 2025/26 Bundesliga season. Edmond Tapsoba, Alejandro Grimaldo, Aleix Garcia and Ibrahim Maza have been nominated. Voting closes on Friday, 17 April (18:00 CEST).
