Bayer 04 signed defensive midfielder Kennet Eichhorn from Hertha BSC in the summer of 2026, when he was 16 years old. The German youth international signed a long-term contract in Leverkusen. Eichhorn made 19 competitive appearances for Hertha BSC’s first team last season, scoring two goals. Sporting Director Simon Rolfes emphasised at the signing that “with Kennet, we now have one of the best young German talents in our ranks”.

Bayer 04 Leverkusen will have to manage without Kennet Eichhorn for the time being. Following specialist medical examinations, the new signing from Berlin has been diagnosed with a metabolic disorder requiring treatment. This was preceded by excessive physical strain and weight loss, partly as a result of a gastrointestinal condition.
