He amazed everybody: When Edmond Tapsoba joined Bayer 04 from Portuguese side Vitoria Guimarães in January 2020, the central defender was actually seen as a promising option for the future. But Tapsoba quickly settled in and established himself as a first choice on the team sheet. In spite of all the language barriers, he immediately impressed with robust, quality work in the style of an experienced player: strong in challenges, incredibly calm under pressure, confident on the ball and accurate in opening up play. 'Eddy' quickly brought defensive stability to the Werkself. Tapsoba's calmness on the pitch fits in with his private preferences: "I like being at home. One of my hobbies is lying in bed."
