Bayer 04 signed Janis Blaswich in the summer of 2025. The goalkeeper, who hails from Willich in the Lower Rhine region, signed a contract at Leverkusen that runs to 30 June 2027. Blaswich began his professional career with Borussia Mönchengladbach's second team before moving to Heracles Almelo after several loan spells. There, the German became a regular starter and returned to the Bundesliga in 2022 to join RB Leipzig. Initially planned as the number two keeper, he replaced Péter Gulácsi, who was seriously injured at the time, in 64 competitive games, including the 2023 DFB Pokal final, where he kept a clean sheet and won the trophy. During this phase, Blaswich was also called up to the Germany squad for four games. After a loan spell at RB Salzburg, he has now returned to his home region.
