"An experienced and established Bundesliga player who is commanding and very ambitious." With those words, Bayer 04 managing director sport Simon Rolfes described Werkself new signing Robert Andrich at his presentation in Leverkusen in the middle of August 2021. The midfielder joined the Werkself from Bundesliga rivals Union Berlin. The Potsdam-born player made 65 appearances in two years for the Berlin team scoring nine goals and providing six assists. Andrich, who wears the number eight shirt for the Black and Reds, signed a contract to 30 June 2026.

Bayer 04 Leverkusen will have to manage without Montrell Culbreath for the start of the 2026/27 season. The forward injured his foot injury in yesterday’s preseason friendly against Spanish top-flight side Sevilla (2–1), which rules him out of action for the time being. Culbreath’s diagnosis is not yet complete; further examinations are to follow in the coming days.

Bayer 04 Leverkusen have extended the current contract with Robert Andrich by two years to the summer of 2026. The midfielder, who joined the Werkself from Union Berlin in the summer of 2021, has signed a new contract with Germany's double winners to 30 June 2028.
