Bundesliga
Bayer 04 have been in Germany's top flight continuously since promotion to the Bundesliga in 1978/79. The Werkself have finished runners-up five times at the end of the season. With one exception in the 2016/ 17 season (twelfth place), the Black and Reds have always finished in a European spot at the end of a Bundesliga campaign since the 2010s. In the 2023/24 season, Bayer 04 won the German championship and remained unbeaten in 51 consecutive matches.

Review of the double-winning season! Part two: Everlasting success
The team under coach Xabi Alonso unwaveringly continued their run in the New Year. They were top at the winter break, beat Bayern Munich and continued to break away from the record champions. Never giving up, scoring an incredible number of crucial goals in added time and going from one win to the next. The second half of this magical 2023/24 season includes a breathtaking number of highlights. The biggest include: Bayer 04 are crowned champions of Germany for the first time and win the DFB Pokal for the second time. The double winners only lost to one team. Part two of our season review.

There was already huge anticipation for the 2023/24 season before it even began. Many factors suggested a successful campaign: the coach, the shrewd transfers, the noticeably close connection between the team and the fans, the will to achieve great things together. "Us. For our dream." - four words that were an expression of immense confidence. And which were lived by the club, the team and the fans from the very start, with a lot of heart and passion, and as a given. We take a look back at what was a historic season. Praise for the double from around the world
After a weekend that concluded one of most dominant seasons in the history of European club football, Bayer 04 Leverkusen were treated to a hero’s welcome Sunday back home by fans in Leverkusen. At the same time, within global football and sports media, Die Werkself were recognized across the world for their German double, their first-ever league title and a team spirit that enabled them to become the first undefeated team in Bundesliga history.

A day full of emotional moments: on 18 May 2024, Werkself captain Lukas Hradecky lifted the club's first Meisterschale in the air. A special moment, which was celebrated ecstatically in the BayArena. After the presentation, the whole team completed an incredible lap of honour around the stadium, with Hradecky and coach Xabi Alonso even climbing into the Nordkurve and celebrating together with the fans. Scenes that will remain forever! A historic day for the club, and not just because of the title. The 2-1 win at home to Augsburg on the final matchday ensured that Bayer 04 became the first team to go through an entire Bundesliga season unbeaten. Alonso ahead of #B04FCA: Augsburg game ‘also a sort of final’
It will be a historic and very special moment in front of a full house at the BayArena when the Werkself are presented with the first Meisterschale in the club’s history after the final whistle on the last Bundesliga matchday of the season against FC Augsburg. The fixture is on Saturday, 18 May (kick-off: 15.30 CEST/live on Sky and on Werkself Radio). Ahead of the clash with tenth-placed FCA, head coach Xabi Alonso talked about the trophy presentation as well as the possibility of being the first team to go a whole season unbeaten in the Bundesliga.

Alonso ahead of#B04VfB: Stuttgart 'currently one of the best teams in Europe'
After three consecutive weeks of playing midweek, the Werkself have been preparing for the top-of-the-table clash against VfB Stuttgart over the past few days. Ahead of the home game on Saturday 27 April (kick-off 18:30 CEST, live on Sky), head coach Xabi Alonso praised the third-placed visitors and gave an update on the state of the pitch as well as personnel.
