Bundesliga

Since promotion to the Bundesliga in 1978/79, Bayer 04 have remained in Germany's top flight. The Werkself have ended the season in second place five times. With the one exception of 2016/17 (12th position), the Black and Reds finished in the top five in the 2010s.

Werkself complete unbeaten Bundesliga season with 2-1 win against Augsburg

History was made in Leverkusen on Saturday as Bayer 04 beat Augsburg 2-1 on the final day of 2023/24 to become the first team ever to complete a Bundesliga season unbeaten on the day they also received the Meisterschale for the first time. Victor Boniface and Robert Andrich put the Werkself ahead in the first half before Mert Kömür got one back for the visitors.

Alonso ahead of #B04FCA: Augsburg game ‘also a sort of final’

It will be a historic and very special moment in front of a full house at the BayArena when the Werkself are presented with the first Meisterschale in the club’s history after the final whistle on the last Bundesliga matchday of the season against FC Augsburg. The fixture is on Saturday, 18 May (kick-off: 15.30 CEST/live on Sky and on Werkself Radio). Ahead of the clash with tenth-placed FCA, head coach Xabi Alonso talked about the trophy presentation as well as the possibility of being the first team to go a whole season unbeaten in the Bundesliga.

Late winner from Schick in 2-1 win against TSG

Bayer 04 continue an incredible run with a 2-1 victory over TSG Hoffenheim making it 39 games without defeat this season. Maximilian Beier gave the visitors the lead in the first half (33') but the Werkself turned the game at the BayArena round with late goals from Robert Andrich (88') and Patrik Schick (90+1').
