
The training group on Monday consisted of the goalkeeping duo, supplemented by U19 keeper Simeon Rapsch, as well as the Werkself professionals Aleix Garcia, Nathan Tella, Jonas Hofmann, Ezequiel Fernández, Eliesse Ben Seghir and Tim Oermann. Issa Traoré, Ferdinand Pohl, Emmanuel Chigozie Owen and Dustin Buck were all involved from the junior squad.
Loïc Badé completed parts of the training session with the team, Lucas Vázquez worked individually on the pitch. Robert Andrich worked inside the BayArena, as did the injured Jarell Quansah, Martin Terrier and Arthur.










The Werkself training sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday are also open to the public. Training is scheduled to start at 11:00 CET on both days.
While Alejandro Grimaldo, Ibrahim Maza, Malik Tillman and Co. are playing important friendlies ahead of the World Cup in the summer, Patrik Schick is still fighting with the Czech Republic for a ticket to the tournament in the USA, Canada and Mexico. They face Ireland in the semi-final of the play-offs, with Denmark or North Macedonia waiting in the crucial clash.

Three goals weren’t enough for the Werkself to beat FC Heidenheim on Saturday. The 3-3 stalemate was Bayer 04’s third Bundesliga draw in a row. After a commanding first half and a two-goal lead, “we didn’t get back into our game,” summarised Mark Flekken, who featured between the sticks for the first time in two months. Patrik Schick once again proved his nose for goal, bagging a brace. He is now the third-most prolific Bundesliga scorer in the club’s history. Bayer 04 were held to a 3-3 draw away at Heidenheim despite twice taking the lead on Bundesliga Matchday 27. Malik Tillman and Patrik Schick had given the Werkself a 2-0 advantage in the first half, but Hennes Behrens and a Marvin Pieringer penalty brought the hosts level after the restart. Schick restored the lead not long after. However, Pieringer also struck again in the closing minutes to restrict Leverkusen to just a point away at the Bundesliga’s bottom side.
