Bayer 04 signed Spanish right-back Lucas Vázquez in the summer of 2025. The veteran came from Real Madrid and signed a contract in Leverkusen until 2027. In the previous season, Vázquez was one of the top performers for the ‘Royals,’ for whom he played 53 competitive matches. The nine-time Spanish international has made a total of 402 competitive appearances for the Madridistas, with whom he has celebrated 23 title wins in his career. ‘With Lucas Vázquez, we are signing an extremely experienced player who has won everything there is to win with Real Madrid over the past ten years,’ emphasised Bayer 04 sporting director Simon Rolfes during the signing of the contract.
