Jarell Quansah signed for Leverkusen in the summer of 2025 as a newly crowned U21 European champion. The Englishman, who had already won the Euros with the Three Lions U19 team in 2022, impressed at the tournament in Slovakia as an indispensable regular first pick in central defence. At Liverpool, where Quansah played from the age of five, the 1.90-meter-tall defender had become an increasingly important pillar of the defence in the 2024/2025 Premier League winning season, making 25 appearances. “With Jarell, our defence gains distinctive dynamism, pace, and toughness in one-on-ones, as well as being another very important building block for the Werkself of the future,” said Bayer 04 managing director sport Simon Rolfes about the signing.

In the first episode of the new interview series "A New Chapter", Werkself defender Jarell Quansah reflects on his first few months under the Cross and speaks about his journey from England to Leverkusen. Having come through the ranks at Liverpool, a new chapter began for Quansah in the summer at Bayer 04 — with new objectives, fresh challenges and much ambition. In the video, the centre-back speaks about his development as a player and person, about the courage to leave your own comfort zone, and about what it means for him to be part of an international team in a different country. Honest, reflective and full of motivation — just like the start of his Werkself career.
