Ibrahim Maza was Bayer 04's first new signing for the 2025/26 season. At the age of 19, the attacking player moved from his youth club Hertha Berlin in his hometown to Leverkusen, where he signed a contract to 30 June 2030. Managing director sport Simon Rolfes said of the Algerian international after the contract signing: “Ibrahim Maza is currently one of the most interesting young attacking players around. He fits in well with us and our style of football. He has excellent technical skills, is strong at dribbling and assertive, and has an eye for his teammates, who he knows how to use brilliantly.”

The Werkself may have the festive season off, but four players will still be in action as they compete at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. Eliesse Ben Seghir will open the 35th edition of the tournament with hosts Morocco on Sunday, 21 December. Fans, captains and experts have decided: Bayer 04 high-flyer Ibrahim Maza has been voted Bundesliga Rookie of the Month for November. The 20-year-old Algerian beat Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig and Bilal El Khannouss from VfB Stuttgart. Maza is currently also nominated for the Bundesliga Player of the Month award for November. Fans can vote for him up to Sunday, 7 December at 11:59 CET.

Bayer 04 midfielder Ibrahim Maza was honoured in Paris in the Best Algerian Young Player category at the Fennec d'Or awards for the Algerian Footballer of the Year, organised for the first time by the football journal La Gazette du Fennec.
