Bayer 04 Leverkusen have been active in the area of eSports since November 2017 and since then have had the target of playing a one-two between the football pitch and the virtual pitch.

Currently there are two talented eSports players, Marc ‘MARC_LDW23’ Landwehr and Sean ‘SEAN_LDW07’ Landwehr, in the B04eSports team. They represent the Black and Reds in national competitions such as the Virtual Bundesliga (VBL) and the DFB ePokal as well as internationally in the EA Global Series. Their performance have already attracted great attention and firmly established Bayer 04 in eSports.

The strategic focus of the Leverkusen eSports section is based on three key areas: training, technical affinity and entertainment. These key points are not only firmly anchored in external communication but also within the team.

#B04eSports: Victory to close out northwest division

The 34th and final matchday of the northwest division in the 2023/24 VBL Club Championship by Wow saw Leverkusen’s console team take on Magdeburg. Victory and three more points secured their position in seventh and a subsequent spot in the play-offs for the championship.

#B04eSports: Point against Köln in penultimate league game

Matchday 33 of the 2023/24 VBL Club Championship by Wow saw a digital derby against Köln for Leverkusen’s console team. Bayer 04 earned a point to remain seventh in the northwest division and in with a chance of reaching the play-offs.

#B04eSports: Important points in battle for play-offs

The Bayer 04 eSports team this week played matchdays 30 to 32 in the 2023/24 VBL Club Championship by WOW in the business end of the season. The #B04eSports team picked up six important points in the games against Schalke 04, VfL Wolfsburg and direct rivals Fortuna Düsseldorf. The Black and Reds remain seventh in the table in the North West Division and are still in with a chance of qualifying for the finals of the German Club Championship via the play-offs.

No points on the next triple matchday: The Bayer 04 eSports players suffered defeat on each of Matchdays 27 to 29 in the VBL Club Championship by WOW this week and have now dropped a place in the North West Division.

#B04eSports: Two wins, two defeats

A place in the leading group in the North West division remains despite slipping from fifth to sixth. The rearranged match against Hamburg SV on Monday night and the clash with Hansa Rostock ended in defeat while the #B04eSports players clocked up two overall wins against Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Braunschweig.
