Bayer 04 Leverkusen have been active in the area of eSports since November 2017 and since then have had the target of playing a one-two between the football pitch and the virtual pitch.
Currently there are two talented eSports players, Marc ‘MARC_LDW23’ Landwehr and Sean ‘SEAN_LDW07’ Landwehr, in the B04eSports team. They represent the Black and Reds in national competitions such as the Virtual Bundesliga (VBL) and the DFB ePokal as well as internationally in the EA Global Series. Their performance have already attracted great attention and firmly established Bayer 04 in eSports.
The strategic focus of the Leverkusen eSports section is based on three key areas: training, technical affinity and entertainment. These key points are not only firmly anchored in external communication but also within the team.

#B04eSports: Bayer 04 set up B04eAcademy and seek new eSports players
An opportunity for young talented players: In cooperation with the Academy of eSports, Bayer 04 have set up the B04eAcademy under the Cross. The aim is to offer young and ambitious talents the opportunity to earn a place in the #B04eSports team. Through an application phase and two tournaments plus a grand final event at the BayArena, two talented youngsters will be selected and will receive an eSports talent contract including six months of coaching.

#B04eSports x BKK – eSports fan fest at the BayArena
The eSports section at Bayer 04 and the BERGISCHE KRANKENKASSE are inviting all Leverkusen eSports fans to an eSports fan fest. This will be held at the 19nullvier Lounge at the BayArena on Saturday 3 August (10.00 to 17.00 CEST). Access will be via the VIP WEST entrance.

#B04eSports: Presenting the eSports shirt for 2024/25
A new look for the 2024/25 season: Bayer 04, together with supplier Castore, presents the official kit for the Leverkusen players team for the forthcoming season. Two new partners, men's outfitter Lerros - the new main eSports sponsor - and sleeve partner Niedax are featured on the #B04eSports team jersey. The shirt is now available for pre-order in the Bayer 04 online shop.

#B04eSports: Team Bayer 04 x MENA wins VBL International Series 2024
The first trophy in the history of Black and Red eSports: At the VBL International Series, an EA FC tournament, where German clubs and the winners of regional football tournaments worldwide form teams and find an international champion in a big finals tournament in Germany. Leverkusen's Sean Landwehr came out on top to win the tournament with his three player team Bayer 04 x MENA.
