It has been an exciting journey for Sean Landwehr so far. As winners of the first showdown in the VBL Club Championship 2025/26, the two cousins Sean and Marc Landwehr secured automatic entry into the Grand Final last autumn as a bonus for their success. This allowed them to skip the previous qualifying round, the VBL Open, and compete for the individual championship with renewed energy.
The Grand Final started last week with the online preliminary round. Sean and Marc Landwehr finished mid-table in their respective groups and had to compete again in an intermediate round. While Sean managed to secure his ticket for the upcoming final event, cousin Marc was narrowly eliminated in a penalty shoot-out. Match report.
The final event, held in Hamburg in a knockout format, begins for Sean Landwehr on Saturday at 19:00 CEST with the Round of 16 tie against Brandon ‘HSV_Perkkix’ Wüschem. The Red Shorts eSports player finished third in the same preliminary round group as Sean (sixth place) with three wins and one defeat and progressed directly to the knockout event without having to go through the intermediate round.
An overview of the tournament format with all possible opponents from the quarter-finals to the final can be found HERE on the VBL website.
