Andrich, Flekken and Co. at the BarmeniaGothaer Christmas market

On Tuesday evening, Bayer 04's main sponsor BarmeniaGothaer and its employees welcomed some very special visitors to the company's Christmas market at its headquarters in Wuppertal: Werkself players Robert Andrich, Mark Flekken, Loïc Badé, Jarell Quansah and Malik Tillman spent lots of time with Bayer 04 fans of all ages in the early evening – and also helped to serve drinks such as Glühwein (mulled wine) and delicious food.

The children and family members, as well as the employees of BarmeniaGothaer, many of them wearing Bayer 04 jerseys or black and red scarves and hats, collected autographs and eagerly lined up for selfies. Whether old or young fans, camera or autograph card: no wish was left unfulfilled.

With Glühwein and children's punch in hand, the players enjoyed the special atmosphere of the festive Christmas market. There were also some culinary surprises in store: as Loïc Badé and Jarell Quansah had never tried Leberkäse (meatloaf) before, Robert Andrich – ever the captain of the Werkself – quickly prepared a bread roll for them to try. The verdict was mixed: Badé gave it a solid six out of ten, while Jarell was more reserved with a four.

Instead of leaving at the planned time, the players stayed much longer at the Christmas market, enjoying food and mulled wine as the evening drew to a close. This brought a thoroughly successful event, which is sure to remain a fond memory for both the players and BarmeniaGothaer, to a fitting end.

Andrich: "The children's smiles makes you feel that much happier"

At BarmeniaGothaer's headquarters following the visit, Andrich said: "The atmosphere here is really lovely. Intimate, friendly. A great event for employees. The atmosphere is fantastic, the people are very nice. And when you see the children's smiles, it makes you that much happier, of course."
