Bellarabi faces operation in Basel
Following in-depth discussions between Karim Bellarabi and Bayer 04 Leverkusen it has been decided the player should undergo an operation.
The striker will be operated on tomorrow, Wednesday 14 September by Dr Bernhard Segesser at the Rennbahn Clinic in Basel. This is to repair ligament damage in his right groin.
Bellarabi picked up the injury in Saturday's Bundesliga home game against Hamburg SV. He was substituted in the opening minutes due to a torn muscle and ligaments in the right groin. The 26-year-old Germany international will not be available for selection by head coach Roger Schmidt for the rest of 2016.

Werkself beaten 4-1 by Stuttgart at start of the year
The Werkself began 2026 with defeat, losing 4-1 at home to VfB Stuttgart on Matchday 16 of the 2025/26 Bundesliga. Jamie Leweling opened the scoring early, with Maximilian Mittelstädt making it 2-0 from a penalty before Leweling again and Deniz Undav increased the lead to 4-0 just before half-time. Alejandro Grimaldo's penalty reduced the deficit midway through the second period.
