
Frank Lamsfuß (a member of the BarmeniaGothaer AG executive board) and Bayer 04 CEO Fernando Carropresented the cheque in aid of the Fondation Edmond Tapsoba to the Werkself defender before the warm-up.

At the end of April, Bayer 04 released an exclusive documentary about Tapsoba on Werkself-TV and the club’s own YouTube channel. For the documentary, the Leverkusen player – who recently signed a long-term contract extension until 2031 – travelled to his home country of Burkina Faso with a delegation from the club. While there, Tapsoba offered a unique insight into his early days in football, the country’s culture and the inspiring work of his foundation, the Fondation Edmond Tapsoba, which has once again received support from Leverkusen through the proceeds from T-shirt sales. Werkself player Montrell Culbreath and Bayer 04 loanee Francis Onyeka are part of Germany's final squad for the U19 European Championships this summer. The tournament is in Wales from 24 June to 12 July.

Bayer 04 are away to third-division club SV Wehen Wiesbaden in the first round of the 2026/27 DFB Pokal. That was the outcome of the draw on Saturday night, 6 June, at the German Football Museum in Dortmund. The Werkself first round tie will be played between 21 and 24 August. The exact date has yet to be finalised.
