In intimate conversations with Tapsoba’s parents, his first coach and other significant associates from his youth in Burkina Faso, the documentary portrays the people behind the professional athlete and his impressive rise to the highest level of European football.
Another central theme of the film is the special work of the ‘Fondation Edmond Tapsoba‘, which the 27-year-old launched in summer 2024 with the aim of improving access to education, nutrition and health for people in the country – particularly children and women.















‘Fierté Burkinabè’ (‘Burkinabe Pride‘) is a story about home, deep pride and the unifying power of football. The documentary, produced by the Bayer 04 Media House, which also highlights the special bond between Tapsoba and Bayer 04 through interviews with the likes of managing director sport Simon Rolfes and former coach Peter Bosz, is now available to watch for free on Werkself-TV and YouTube.

Bayer 04 are back on the pitch. Following the first training sessions, the Werkself play the first pre-season friendly on Saturday, July 18. The match against Oberliga club Sportfreunde Baumberg kicks off at 15:30 CEST in Monheim am Rhein. Fans unable to attend the match can watch head coach Carles Martínez’s first game in charge for free via a livestream at bayer04.de and on the Bayer 04 app, as well as on Werkself.tv (exclusively for members). Bayer 04 is redesigning the public catering at the BayArena and Ulrich-Haberland-Stadion for the start of the 2026/27 season. Together with new catering partner Aramark, processes will be developed and the service at the stadium will be improved in a targeted way.
