A new start at an old stomping ground: Panagiotis Retsos is back with the Werkself after a six-month loan to Premier League club Sheffield United. His hope for sufficient match practice did not work out in England's top flight. The Greece international joined Bayer 04 from Olympiakos in 2017. After a successful first season with 24 Bundesliga appearances, 'Panos' was held back by long-term muscle and ligament problems. "Unfortunately, a lot of things went wrong for him here with us," said Simon Rolfes who does hope that the talented Greek can rediscover his good performances from his debut season.
Bayer 04 Leverkusen's versatile defender Panagiotis Retsos has signed for Italian top-flight side Hellas Verona before his contract ran out in the summer of 2022.Show more

Bayer 04 have loaned out Greece U21 international Panagiotis Retsos to St. Etienne to the end of the season. The defensive all-rounder has a contract at the Werkself to 30 June 2022. The French top-flight side, currently seventh in Ligue 1, have an option to buy the 22-year-old.Show more
The second international break of the season follows the Bundesliga away fixture at VfB Stuttgart. A total of 16 players from the 26-man squad at Bayer 04 have been called up for their national teams. Patrik Schick and Moussa Diaby have dropped out due to injury.Show more
