Furthermore, we protect our players from all forms of physical, sexual, emotional and psychological violence, so that they can develop both athletically and characteristically without fear and pressure.

We create trust with clear rules, observe clearly defined boundaries, respect the individual feelings of the children and young people entrusted to us and make sure that the children and young people also respect these boundaries in their dealings with each other. The trainers and supervisors actively represent the rules of non-violent, fair and social behaviour and also actively enforce these between the children and young people.

In this way, we also want to take a preventive approach to child protection at Bayer 04 and make the Bayer 04 performance centre a safe place for our young footballers.

Our entire staff acts proactively as soon as it becomes necessary to protect children and young people and to promote them in an age-appropriate manner. Every single person in the Bayer 04 performance centre is called upon to do this! Looking the other way is not an option for us and protects the wrong people.

The following regulations apply in addition to the legal youth protection provisions (JuSchG) to all events in the portfolio of Bayer 04 Leverkusen Fußball GmbH for children and young people.

1. PHYSICAL CONTACT

Physical contact with children and young people entrusted to us, encouragement, congratulation or comforting must not exceed the educationally reasonable and legally permitted measure. Permitted physical contact must stop immediately if a child or young person does not want it.

2. USE OF PHOTOGRAPHIC AND VIDEO MATERIAL

If images of photographs are prepared by Bayer 04 for reporting purposes and children are visible on these images a declaration of consent from the Guardian will be obtained in advance. With publication all other applicable legal requirements will be met (including §§ 22, 23, 24 & 33 KunstUrhG, plus § 201a StGB). Photos or videos of children and young people entrusted to us will not be distributed via private social media.

3.MEASURES IN RELATION TO OVER NIGHT STAYS

With heterogeneous groups, accommodation will be sought in accordance with requirements and the rooms allocated according to gender of the children and young people entrusted to us. A gender relevant care and support will also be provided. Members of staff, support staff and coaches will not stay overnight with the children and young people entrusted to us in one room unless that is required to maintain supervisory responsibilities. In individual cases this can be agreed in advance with the legal guardians. Before entering the room we will knock and announce our entry. We avoid situations where we are alone in a room with a child or young person. If that is unavoidable then the doors will remain open.

4. SHOWER AND CHANGING SITUATIONS

We will not shower together with children and young people. We will not be present in a changing room while people are changing unless this is required for the maintenance of order and supervisory responsibility. Only after agreement with the legal guardians will support in changing room situations implemented provided it is required. Preparing photographic or video more material of children and young people in the showers or changing rooms is a punishable offence and will be enforced by Bayer 04 accordingly.

5. MEDICATION AND ALLERGIES

Ahead of events with food we will enquire about allergies or similar ailments of the participant entrusted to us with the legal guardians. Members of staff, support staff and coaches must be made aware of carried medication in whatever form such as tablets or injections. Written permission to dispense the medication in emergencies or on requirements must also be provided. Members of staff, support staff and coaches must be made aware of the medication brought in as well as their administration (circumstances/methods). Members of staff, support staff and coaches will not provide any unknown medicines (e.g. painkillers) and will provide first aid in an emergency. Suitable care up to handing over to the legal guardian, e.g. with a required hospital visit, will be provided.

6. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

Children and young people entrusted to us will be looked after over the course of the event by our members of staff, support staff and coaches in an appropriate manner. The members of staff, support staff and coaches are aware of their position of trust and authority and will not exploit any dependency situations. This is dependent on different structures, e.g. group and age structure and this will be communicated in advance as required. The childcare ratio will be calculated using the same structures and the relevant number of members of staff, support staff and coaches used.

7. TRANSPARENCY IN ACTIONS

We are transparent in our actions, and we are available at any time for questions from legal guardians. Action wiil be taken as soon there is knowledge of abuse or violence. There will be no heed paid to collegial structures. There is no "policy of silence" towards legal guardians. All members of staff, support staff and coaches are continually alert and always have an ear open for relevant reports from the entrusted children and young people.

8. BREACHES OF THE CODE OF CONDUCT

The maintenance of the requirements of this code of conduct are binding on all members of staff, support staff and coaches as work instruction. Flagrant breaches of this code of conduct will be pursued in accordance with employment law.
