We at Bayer 04 Leverkusen Fußball GmbH are aware of our great responsibility when it comes to working with children and adolescents. It is therefore a matter of course for us to actively assume this responsibility for the well-being of the children and adolescents entrusted to us and to protect them from abuse, violence, and discrimination of any kind within our environment. Our child protection policy applies to all areas of the club and focuses on the protection and rights of children and adolescents.
A code of conduct establishes clear rules for interacting with children and adolescents. The principles include responsible, nonviolent, fair, and socially responsible behavior, both between adults and children/adolescents and among children and adolescents themselves. Proof of a clean criminal record is a requirement for all employees, caregivers, and coaches working with children and adolescents.
Child protection liaisons and a child protection committee monitor compliance with the child protection policy and update it regularly.
In cases of suspected abuse, a task force collaborates with external experts and authorities as needed to ensure a swift and professional investigation. Our entire staff acts proactively to protect children and adolescents. We actively promote a culture of vigilance and open communication. To this end, we have established and communicated designated points of contact and reporting channels for tips and suspected cases.
The goal is to create an environment in which children and young people are safe and secure and can develop their (athletic) abilities to the fullest.
What happens after a report is filed?
The child protection liaisons provide assistance and determine what action to take. In any case, the report will be treated confidentially. If there is an emergency, a small task force will be formed to quickly investigate and follow up on the report. Bayer 04 maintains regular contact with the affected person and keeps them informed of developments.
