"Of course, the Pokal game on Wednesday was longer than we wanted," said Kasper Hjulmand at the pre-match press conference on Friday lunchtime. "But we've recovered well and have a strong squad with depth. We're travelling to Munich to play well and get a good result." How can the in-form FC Bayern striker Harry Kane (22 goals in 14 games) be stopped? "We have to defend against him and everyone else collectively, that's the only way."
When asked whether FC Bayern are invincible in their current form, the Dane replied: "They are currently the best team in Germany and one of the best in Europe. They have started really strongly in all competitions and have a lot of quality. But no team is unbeatable in any game. I firmly believe it's possible for us to come away with a result. That's why we're going there with courage and confidence."
Looking back at the last few years and the record of five league matches against FC Bayern without defeat, Hjulmand also explained: "Right now, the gap to them is perhaps a little bigger than in recent years. But our new, young team is developing well and we have the potential, also with a good game tomorrow, to reduce this gap bit by bit. Even if that takes time, of course."
The 6,000 Bayer 04 fans travelling to Munich will not be able to see Exequiel Palacios, Ezequiel Fernández, Nathan Tella and Axel Tape plus Lucas Vázquez as Hjulmand announced. Whether Malik Tillman will return to the matchday squad on Saturday was left open by the Dane: "He's training with us today and then we'll see."

Bayer 04 put in a brilliant performance to beat RB Leipzig 4-1 on Bundesliga matchday 32 and are now fourth in a Champions League spot. The Black and Reds took control of the game right from the start and, with 75 per cent possession at one stage, took a 2-0 lead into the break through Patrik Schick (25’) and Nathan Tella (45+1’). The visitors initially tried to do more after the break, but the Werkself remained determined and Schick scored his second goal to increase the lead to 3-0 (76'). The Red Bulls pulled a goal back through Christoph Baumgartner (80'), but the disciplined Leverkusen side were not rattled - and certainly not Schick: The Czechia international crowned a brilliant display with his third goal shortly before the final whistle to make the final score 4-1.

In the previous game against RB Leipzig in December last year, the Werkself turned came from behind to win 3-1 and further improved Leverkusen's already strong record against the Red Bulls. Montrell Culbreath stood out with his first goal on his debut for the Black and Reds. While the 18-year-old would certainly like to score a second goal against Leipzig on Saturday night, the attack-minded visitors come to the BayArena in confident mood after five Bundesliga victories in a row. The Nordkurve12 supporters group knows the Werkself will therefore once again be reliant on the vociferous support of the fans, and has once again called for the ‘Finally Red’ campaign in the run-in.
