At the start of the new VBL-CC season, with a completely restructured format from this season onwards (HERE you can find all the information), the two eSports players Sean and Marc Landwehr picked up two wins from their first three matches last Thursday - HERE is the match report.
The #B04eSports team now faced the second half of the online preliminary round for showdown one. The first match was against SV Werder Bremen, who are fielding a completely new squad this season. In game one Marc 'MARC_LDW23' Landwehr faced Bremen's Max Julius ‘DIVINERS’ Gröne, who led SC Paderborn 07 to the semi-finals of the VBL CC last season. After taking a 1-0 lead, Landwehr fell 3-1 behind. The final score was 3-5 - four of the five Werder goals were scored by Bremen's powerhouse Victor Boniface. Now it was up to cousin Sean 'SEAN_LDW07' Landwehr to make up the two-goal deficit - and he succeeded. With an assured performance, the Leverkusen-born player sealed a 3-0 win against Jannik ‘KYNURU’ Schüßler. The important winning goal was followed by loud cheers from Landwehr - because it meant 6-5 overall for Bayer 04 and the associated three points.
The second match was against Borussia Dortmund. Game one between Marc Landwehr and Luca ‘LUCAFIFA72’ Weber ended in a 4-1 loss due to a hardware error in minute 82 and the result counted from that point. Sean Landwehr then lost 5-1 to Francesco ‘BVB_VIRGIL’ Allocco, giving the Borussia Dortmund eSports team the overall victory.
Finally, promoted SG Dynamo Dresden, who went into the match against Bayer 04 with confidence after their draw against Bayern Munich, last year's winners of the South-East Division, were next up. Sean Landwehr started against Nils ‘TROLFARY’ Coenen and impressed with his well-considered actions. The Leverkusen player won 4-1. Marc Landwehr went into the duel with a three-goal lead against Justin ‘JUSTINIOO’ Weißflog, and clinically punished his correspondingly risky play. In the end, Landwehr won 4-2 - three points were secured for the #B04eSports team.

Oktober in Leipzig statt.

This afternoon, Saturday 24 January (kick-off: 15.30 CET), Bayer 04 host SV Werder Bremen, who are winless in their last seven league games. Nevertheless, in their last outing, a 3-3 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt, where they conceded a late equaliser, the Green and Whites did show their team spirit. The Werkself, led by birthday boy Patrik Schick, will be looking to counter this and secure their first three points of the new year on this ‘!Never Again’ remembrance matchday to commemorate the victims of National Socialism.
