It’s time for Family Matchday at the BayArena again! Around the Werkself home ground, the little ones can let off steam with face painting or on the bouncy castle, while teenagers and parents can enjoy plenty of fun with mini-golf, the speed check or reaction games. Selected Bayer 04 Club members will also experience unique moments as the ‘banner family’ or during an exciting half-time challenge. Meanwhile, Bayer 04 supporters from past decades, as well as Werkself fans of more recent times, will be able to enjoy the Fantrödel flea market between entrances B3 and B4 on the east side of the stadium. Please note: payments must be made in cash. All proceeds from the Fantrödel will go to the ‘Zeitinsel’ children’s palliative care unit. However, the Schwadbud will be closed due to an internal event.

Further promotions, challenges and competitions are also in store in the future from the Memberships Team, now not at the Bayer 04 Club mobile, but instead at the Bayer 04 Cube on the east side of the BayArena, level with Block B2, outside the stadium.

Bayer 04 are conducting a survey on fan travel at the match. This voluntary survey takes the form of an online questionnaire that can be completed at the stadium. QR codes for the survey will be displayed on posters around the Piazza. The survey is anonymous. Once the survey has concluded, a home jersey will be raffled off amongst all participants who voluntarily provide their email address.

Fan travel on matchdays is the biggest source of emissions for professional football clubs. The previous 2025 mobility survey has already provided valuable information and is now to be updated so that Bayer 04 can continue to champion the cause of sustainable travel, based on the latest data. This information is therefore of great importance for managing and optimising environmental efforts in the context of transport. Thank you very much for taking part.

For the Werkself, this is the first Sunday match since October 2025. Previously, however, the Black and Reds have almost always fared well in Sunday fixtures – of their last 30 matches played on a Sunday, only one ended in a defeat for Leverkusen. However, the Red Bulls are coming to the BayArena as opponents who, like the team under head coach Carles Martínez are focussed on control and accuracy: In terms of both average possession (Bayer 04: 64 per cent, RB Leipzig: 61 per cent) and pass completion rate (B04: 89 per cent, RBL: 88 per cent), the two teams sit second and third in the league stats behind FC Bayern Munich.

Although the Red Bulls have scored nine goals this season – one more than Bayer 04 – the Black and Reds have scored at least twice in each of their last seven direct league encounters. Of the four Werkself goals in their most recent meeting (4–1), three were scored by former Leipzig player Patrik Schick. The Czechia international spent the 2019/20 season on loan at RBL, but has also found the net five times against his former club while playing for the Werkself. Schick is also among the top scorers and providers in the top flight this season, with three goals and one assist after three games.

The same applies to Leipzig’s Antonio Nusa, who has scored two goals and provided two assists for his club. The Norwegian bagged three of those four goal involvements in the recent 5–0 victory over Hamburger SV, where his team once again demonstrated their strength at home. Away from home, however, Martin Demichelis’s side have struggled so far, losing 3-1 to Werder Bremen and 4-1 in the UEFA Champions League against Como in Italy. At the BayArena, RBL are looking to improve on this record – and once again, the difference may be made by the formidable attacking line-up featuring Nusa, returnee Christopher Nkunku and the pacy wingers Johan Bakayoko and Brajan Gruda. New wi-fi at the BayArena – Ticket exchange update

The seats and the Wi-Fi at the BayArena have been upgraded during the summer break. Instead of the ‘BayArena’ network, fans can now enjoy even better browsing on one of two faster networks: ‘Bayer04’ is the Wi-Fi network for modern devices and offers better bandwidth. Devices that, for technical reasons, cannot connect to this network or on which it does not appear are offered a similarly good solution in the form of ‘Bayer04-classic’. The ‘BayArena’ network will be switched off on 18 October 2026.

There are also changes to the official ticket exchange platform: with immediate effect, it will always close 30 minutes before the stadium opens – which means at 13:00 CEST for the RBL game.

WERKSELFgo: The Bayer 04  car share platform

With the free car share platform WERKSELFgo, travelling to Leverkusen’s home matches is now even easier and more convenient. You can form car share groups with other Bayer 04 fans, find lifts and share travel costs. How does it all work? Simply register on the platform using your Bayer 04 account, search for a lift or post a journey yourself. The passengers decide among themselves how much it should cost.
