WERKSELFgo makes it easier to travel together and offers fans the opportunity to share journeys, network and get in the mood for the match on the way to the stadium. Carpools mean that travel costs can be split, while at the same time contributing to lower CO₂ emissions per person compared to individual car journeys.
WERKSELFgo is completely free to use for all Bayer 04. It's easy to sign up to the portal HERE or via the link in the Bayer 04 app with your existing Bayer 04 account. Whether passengers share the travel costs, buy you a bratwurst at the stadium or simply enrich your trip with good conversations: everyone decides for themselves what the black-and-red ride should cost.
Matthias Adler, head of sustainability at Bayer 04, said: "With WERKSELFgo, we have taken another important step toward significantly expanding Bayer 04’s mobility offerings. After all, fan travel on matchdays is often the biggest source of emissions for professional football clubs. For fans themselves, it’s a convenient and affordable way to get to the game while connecting with other Bayer 04 fans."
Bayer 04 consistently encourages the use of a variety of other mobility options - both on matchdays and beyond. For example, the purchase of a ticket for a women’s or men’s home game includes a public transport ticket that allows both home and away fans to travel for free within the VRS and VRR regions. On men’s matchdays, shuttle buses and neighbourhood buses also run directly to the stadium. Two train stations with connections to regional transit - Leverkusen-Mitte and Leverkusen-Manfort - are within walking distance. In addition, more than 2,000 bicycle parking spaces are available in the vicinity of the BayArena.
In addition, 51 charging points for electric cars have been installed around the BayArena as well as other Bayer 04 sites. Club staff also benefit from a bike leasing scheme as well as a discounted Deutschlandticket job ticket.
Bayer 04 is continuously expanding its database through regular mobility analyses of its workforce and spectators. The goal is to identify opportunities for improvement and to strengthen the data basis in a targeted manner.
