There is no final decision on how many spectators will be permitted on matchday. It is certain that all season card holders will have their seats at the BayArena. They were informed last week via email. All information on a possible start date for matchday ticket sales – initially of course for our Club members – will follow shortly.
There are a few changes for visitors to the stadium to note..
All season card holders who opted for the 'draw bowl' model will be in their season card seat for the game against Borussia Dortmund. This week we are sending season card seats as matchday tickets automatically via email. Season card holders do not have to worry about anything else as their seats are secure. The chessboard seating policy for the last home game against Borussia Mönchengladbach will no longer be used.
The following continues to be in force: If you are fully vaccinated or completely recovered then nothing stands in the way of access to the stadium. Children and teenagers aged between six and 19 can enter the BayArena with their personalised, negative coronavirus test (flow test not more than 24 hours old or a PCR test not more than 48 hours old). Children up to the age of five do not need proof of vaccination or tests to be admitted. If full vaccination or proof of recovery is unavailable then the tickets can obviously be transferred to friends, family or acquaintances. However, that only applies to fully vaccinated or recovered persons.
We want to make it easier for fans to enter the BayArena – with immediate effect, the digital 2G passport can be checked directly at the turnstiles. Wristbands are no longer required. Important note: Please make sure you use the coronavirus alert app or the Covid pass app.
If there is no digital passport then a wristband can be collected on production of proof of vaccination or recovery a day before the match (Friday, 10 September) between 10.00 and 18.00 either from the Bayer 04 shop in Leverkusen-Wiesdorf or from the shop at the BayArena (access via WEST entrance, flyover car park). This wristband allows stadium visitors on matchdays to come turnstiles at the entrance.
Of course, an analogue passport can be produced on matchday. From two hours before kick-off, our volunteers will be at the shuttle bus car park to carry out the checks and issue wristbands. At the stadium there will be the opportunity to show the analogue passport at the service points East, West and Visitors.
We also have good news in terms of travel to and from the game: In addition to the shuttle bus service from the Kurtekotten car park, there are also local buses plus the Löwenlinie (Lions line) from Opladen.
In addition, the match ticket entitles free use of the ÖPNV – on matchdays from four hours before kick-off to the BayArena and up to three in the morning of the following day for the journey home. The offer applies to travel on the VRS and VRR networks.

This special event showed once again how strong Bayer 04 are as a team: As part of ‘BarmeniaGothaer gives joy’, the Werkself players Edmond Tapsoba, Ibrahim Maza and Christian Kofane supported the sale of individually designed T-shirts for a good cause at the Fanwelt on Thursday. Several hundred fans came to take part in the charity campaign. Leverkusen's main sponsor BarmeniaGothaer donated the proceeds to the Fondation Edmond Tapsoba, which helps people in Tapsoba's home country of Burkina Faso in their challenging everyday lives.

Rüdiger Vollborn has been at the club for 40 years, he holds the record number of Bundesliga appearances for the club (401) and is the only Bayer 04 player to have won both the UEFA Cup (1988) and the DFB Pokal (1993). And the Berliner stayed with the Werkself after ending his impressive playing career as he worked as a goalkeeping coach for the following nine years. Vollborn now works under the Bayer Cross as a fan liaison officer and club archivist. Since February 2021, the personalised Black and Red lexicon takes Werkself fans under the heading of 'Rudi recounts...' on a brief trip through the history of Bayer 04 every month…
