The record
The Werkself have not lost any of the last four home games against Borussia Mönchengladbach - these matches produced two wins and two draws. The previous home match was also a top game on Saturday night that saw the Werkself clock up a 5-0 victory - with an unforgettable hat-trick from Chicharito and a brace from Stefan Kießling.
Strong at home
Bayer 04 have only lost two of the past 19 encounters with Borussia. The other games ended in twelve wins and five draws. There was an incredible run between October 1994 and May 2010 - During that period the Werkself did not lose in any of the 26 successive Bundesliga matches against the Foals (14 wins, 12 draws).
Foals record to date: just three goals away
The Foals had their weakest first half of the season since they were relegated in 2007/07 with just 15 goals to their credit. Borussia have only netted three times on the road. Gladbach have only won one of the last twelve Bundesliga meetings collecting a mere seven points along the way.
Friends reunited
Saturday’s match sees the return of Josip Drmic to Leverkusen. The Swiss striker joined Bayer 04 in 2014/15 before moving on to Gladbach 18 months later. “I think it will be a very exciting game. We know their quality and they know our’s. Both teams are at a similarly high level,” said Drmic ahead of the match.
Record breaker
No other current Bundesliga player has won so often against Gladbach as Stefan Kießling (eleven). Kieß has also scored ten goals against Borussia. Top drawer indeed.
Top striker and top keeper
Hakan Calhanoglu scored his first brace in the Bundesliga for Bayer 04 against Hertha. He leads the way with six goals and four assists for the Werkself. Bernd Leno is also top of the pops: The Werkself number one has saved the most clear-cut chances in the league (14).
