In the three Bundesliga matches in September against Eintracht Frankfurt, Borussia Mönchengladbach and FC St. Pauli, Alejandro Grimaldo was always in the starting line-up. The Spaniard played a key role in the Werkself's 3-1 home win with his two wonderful strikes from free-kicks against Eintracht Frankfurt. As captain in the absence of the suspended Robert Andrich, he then played in the 1-1 draw against the Foals, followed by a 2-1 away win at FC St. Pauli last weekend, in which Grimaldo set up Ernest Poku, who had just come on as a substitute, for the winning goal.

Bayer 04 fans can cast their votes until Sunday, 5 October (23:59 CEST). Alongside the Leverkusen player, the other nominees are Harry Kane (Bayern Munich), David Raum (RB Leipzig), Noah Atubolu (SC Freiburg) Can Uzun (Eintracht Frankfurt) and Kaishū Sano (Mainz 05). The final result is made up as follows: 40 per cent of the weighting is made up of the fans' votes, 30 per cent each by the 18 team captains and a panel of pundits.
