"With Patrik Schick's commitment we have not only convinced one of the most prolific central striker's in Europe of our project. With this contract extension we have also secured a leading player for our team who we can work with in the coming years to strive for the highest targets," said managing director sport Simon Rolfes. "With the rebuild in the next cycle at Bayer 04 we see Patrick as a motor of development. He combines top-quality ability and an exceptional goal return with international experience and he will give the squad the necessary stability and structure," said Rolfes.
And the 29-year-old Schick combined with his clear commitment to Bayer 04 with the ambition to have even more influence on the team in the future: "I want to and will continue to contribute goals, that's my strength. In addition, I’m also looking to being a key part of the rebuild into a new team capable of winning trophies," said the marksman. "The future is looking good. Bayer 04 are working very hard on building a top team for the future. I firmly believe we will continue to play a leading role in the Bundesliga and in Europe in the future."

In 168 games to date for the Werkself, the 1.91 metre tall Schick has scored 81 goals and provided 12 assists. Be that with his left foot, his head or right foot, the finishing ability of the classic fox in the box is outstanding. If you discount goals scored from the penalty spot last season, Schick was the top goalscorer in the Bundesliga with 20 goals from open play ahead of Serhou Guirassy (18) and Harry Kane (17).
To mark the contract extension, a new Schick jersey has free printing up to 23:59 CEST from the Bayer 04 online shop or at the Bayer 04 Fanwelt. Bayer 04 Club members receive the usual 10% discount on the jersey purchase.
Please note: At the Bayer 04 online shop, the free printing will only be calculated when the jersey with the Schick printing is in the basket.
