Construction work on the Talent House continues: soil removed, basement excavated

Construction work continues on the ‘Haus der Talente’ on Kurtekottenweg in Leverkusen, where 36 young elite athletes will find a new home from next summer. The building team from Temmink Bau, led by Thomas Wellers, are hard at work. Over the past few days, excavators, wheeled loaders and rollers have removed 2,500 cubic metres of soil to excavate the basement.

Some of this excavated material will be used on the site for landscaping. The rest will be temporarily stored in the immediate vicinity of the building site and later incorporated into the compensation areas. An oat grass meadow will be created there.

In the next stage of the construction work, 2,200 tonnes of gravel will be laid to prepare the site for further work. Drilling will go deep into the ground at three locations: following the first test borehole for a well, three further boreholes will be drilled to a depth of approximately 23 metres in the coming weeks. This is because the Talent House will be heated using a water-to-water heat pump.

Matchday News: Take strong home form into cup

The Werkself have reached at least the semi-finals of the DFB Pokal in each of the last three years. The Black-and-Reds would like to make it to the final four of the competition again this season, but to do that they'll need to overcome 1. FC Nürnberg in round two, who travel to the BayArena with momentum following a successful league campaign so far. However, Bayer have a 100 percent record at home in all competitions this season - and have also won six of their last seven home matches in the Pokal. The Matchday News.
