As announced by the German Football Association (DFB) on Monday, Jonathan Tah returns to the national team squad. Germany coach Hansi Flick called up the 25-year-old as the Werkself key defender was already on the way to the team hotel in Wolfsburg. The 13-time Germany international will join the first training session on Tuesday morning.
Florian Wirtz is also on his way to Wolfsburg. In contrast to his Leverkusen teammates, the 18 year-old will not be available for the games against Liechtenstein (11 November, 20.45 CET) and Armenia (14 November, 18.00 CET) due to injury. The youngster has a muscle problem in his hips.
Following the 1-1 draw for the Werkself at Hertha Berlin, sporting managing director Rudi Völler spoke to the BILD Zeitung about Wirtz as follows: "Of course, we would have liked to see Florian play in Berlin. But he cannot play on Thursday and Sunday." Wirtz has made four appearances for the Germany senior team date. "Florian will join the national team. I'm assuming he will probably return in one or two days and then undergo treatment here with us," added Völler.
