In this instance, Bayer 04 has decided that fans who have already purchased a Lucas Vázquez jersey for the 2026/27 season (home, away, third kit) with the number 21 can exchange it for one with the number 17 at the Fanwelt. This will be possible from Saturday 22 August.
Fans who have purchased a current Vázquez jersey bearing the number 21 via the Bayer 04 web shop will be contacted separately in the coming days.
Eliesse Ben Seghir, the number 17 until now, will be given a new squad number. Bayer 04 will announce this in due course.
Carolin Simon is the new captain of the Bayer 04 women’s team. The full-back, who joined from Bayern Munich in the summer, will take over the captain’s armband for the 2026/27 season. Simon returned to Leverkusen in the summer after ten years away. The 33-year-old succeeds goalkeeper Friederike Repohl, who retired at the end of last season.
