Sporting managing director Simon Rolfes described the young Belgian international Noah Mbamba as "one of the great talents in his position as a six" when he signed his contract. The defensive midfielder arrived from Club Brugge in mid-January 2023 and penned a deal with Bayer 04 that runs to 30 June 2028. Rolfes on the strengths of the 1.87 metre tall Belgian: "He has excellent technique, is tall and fast. If he continues to develop at this level then he will be able to play an important role in our Werkself in the future."

Mbamba loaned to Fortuna Düsseldorf
Defensive midfielder Noah Mbamba has joined Fortuna Düsseldorf from Bayer 04 Leverkusen with immediate effect. The German champions and DFB Cup winners are sending the Belgian U21 international out on a one-year loan to the second division club, who narrowly missed out on promotion to the Bundesliga last season in the relegation play-offs against VfL Bochum.

Küppersteg District Matchday: Nutrition workshop with Puerta and Wieder
Why is healthy eating important? What positive effects can it have on everyday life? And what does a competitive athlete actually eat? These questions and many more were the focus of the latest Bayer 04 event as part of the neighbourhood games days. With a visit to GGS Kerschensteinerschule, Bayer 04 professionals Gustavo Puerta and Verena Wieder kicked off the third campaign match day of this Bundesliga season against VfL Bochum, which will be centred around the Küppersteg district. The duo were supported by nutritionist Lena Kadlec, who organised a workshop with the pupils.

Bayer 04 sign top Belgian talent Mbamba
Bayer 04 Leverkusen have signed Belgium U19 international Noah Mbamba. The 18-year-old defensive midfielder joins the Werkself from Club Brugge with immediate effect. Mbamba has penned a contract to 30 June 2028.
