The visit to a training session with the Werkself first team was followed by a match with the Leverkusen youngsters at the Kurtekotten performance centre. The boss of the Australian first division team, who had travelled with and is no stranger to football in Germany, drew a very positive conclusion of his time at Bayer 04.

Show moreAs part of the contract extension between Bayer 04 Leverkusen and main sponsor Barmenia last year, an even greater focus was placed on the youth work of the Bundesliga club. Since then, the Wuppertal-based insurance company has held the naming rights to the Bayer 04 Performance Centre presented by Barmenia and the Bayer 04 Football School presented by Barmenia. Barmenia's extensive support for Bayer 04's young players will now also be visible at Kurtekotten for the start of the Leverkusen youth teams’ competitive matches in February.
