Youth: Coaching structure for 2025/26

The head coaches of the U16 to U19 youth teams at Bayer 04 welcome some new faces to the coaching staff for the 2025/26 campaign. Overview of new set-up.

Bayer 04 sign top talent Osman Turay

Bayer 04 Leverkusen have signed the Germany U17 international Osman Turay. The 17-year-old joins the Werkself for the new season on a free transfer from Schalke 04. The talented left-back will strengthen the Bayer 04 U19 squad.

Bayer 04 extend deal with Onyeka – loan to Bochum

Bayer 04 Leverkusen have extended the contract with 18-year-old midfielder Francis Onyeka to 30 June 2028. The contract with the Germany U18 international now has an additional 12 months to run. The Leverkusen U19 player, who recently played in the final of the U19 German championships, will now go out on loan to VfL Bochum for the coming 2025/26 campaign.

U19s lose 5-4 to Köln in national final despite comeback

A thrilling final but with no reward: the Bayer 04 U19s lost 5-4 to 1. FC Köln in the final for the German championship. Sergi Runge's side went into a commanding lead through goals by Artem Stepanov and Jeremiah Mensah, but the visitors battled back and turned it into a 4-2 lead before half-time. Leverkusen then showed their own comeback qualities in the second period, with Francis Onyeka and Kerim Alajbegovic restoring partiy, but Luis Stapelmann snatched the winner for Köln late on.

‘Fans will give us an extra boost’: U19s host FC Bayern in semi-final tie

A cracker of a semi-final at the Ulrich Haberland Stadium. The Bayer 04 U19 team entertain Bayern Munich on Saturday, 10 May (kick-off: 11:00 CEST/stadium opens: 10:00 CEST). In front of a home crowd, the team led by head coach Sergi Runge, who welcomes back an attacking player, is looking to build on the battling performances from the previous knockout games and "perform at the right moment." Tickets are available from the Bayer 04 online shop and the game will also be broadcast live on Sky.
