Germany initially had the better chances in the game but were unable to convert any of them. The team led by head coach and former Bayer 04 player Christian Wörns were alert at the back. However, they conceded the first goal just before half-time on 44 minutes; shortly after the restart, the La Furia Roja youngsters doubled the lead for the final scoreline (48’).
The tournament also served as a qualifier for the 2027 U20 World Cup in Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan. The four semi-finalists in the European Championship final have automatically qualified for the U20 World Cup – including Germany.

Bayer 04 Leverkusen have loaned U19 midfielder Jeremiah Mensah to Dutch second-tier side Roda JC Kerkrade for one year. The 18-year-old Germany youth international has a long-term contract at the club to 2031.

Bayer 04 Leverkusen have signed Argentina international Facundo Medina. The defender, who can play both at left-back and in a more central position in the back line, has signed a contract with Bayer 04 to 30 June 2031. The 1.84-metre-tall World Cup runner-up, who will wear the number 2 shirt, joins the club from French top-flight side Olympique de Marseille.
