Sven Hübscher, who as Head of Coaching at the Kurtekotten Performance Centre since the summer took over the newly created role of coaching support for age groups U8 to U15, said about the course: "With this and following events it is about giving something back to our area. That's why we wanted to offer these courses. It's important to take responsibility for youth football in our region."
Around 50 participants gathered in the press conference room at the BayArena on Wednesday night, 13 November. Following an introduction by Hübscher, there was a 45-minute lecture on theory. Two coaches from the Leverkusen youth section talked about the principles for establishing an effective training session for the junior teams at Bayer 04.

After the theory came the practice. The participating coaches spent 75 minutes on the training pitches next to the BayArena. The Bayer 04 coaches provided insights into their areas of activity and completed a session with the Leverkusen U12 group. The final part was a joint assessment on theory and practice, which again was held in the press conference room.

Sven Hübscher summed up at the end: "Such events are projects where you can achieve a lot. We want to think bigger and achieve something in youth football in the area along with the participating clubs. This initial session was a successful start and a great event with good communication between the coaches."

Following the final match of the 2025/26 season, the prevailing feeling was naturally one of disappointment after missing out on qualification for the Champions League. The Werkself finished the Bundesliga in sixth place, meaning they'll start the 2026/27 campaign in the Europa League. "But to talk negatively about everything now because of that would be wrong," stressed captain Robert Andrich following the final game, knowing that the past year at Bayer 04 was marked, more than almost any other, by the start of a new era and the courage to change – and in particular, the belief in a positive direction. Everyone was aware this process would need time. The first part of the 2025/26 season review.
