Training starts on Monday: The 2025 summer timetable for the Bayer 04 Women

The Bayer 04 Women are enjoying their richly deserved summer break up to 23 June following the best Bundesliga season in the club’s history. Six weeks after last season’s final matchday at VfL Wolfsburg (1-3), head coach Roberto Pätzold will welcome his squad for the first training session at the Kurtekotten Performance Centre on Monday morning. There will be a break in the preseason from 20 July to 3 August before training resumes on Monday, 4 August.

The Werkself summer training camp in Rieden in Bavaria will run from Sunday 17 August to Sunday 24 August. The new season for the Black and Reds in the Google Pixel Women’s Bundesliga starts on Saturday, 6 September, with opening match at the Allianz Arena away to Bayern Munich.   • Saturday, 12 July, 16:00 CEST: Friendly at PEC Zwolle (TBC)
  • Friday, 18 July, 15:00 CEST: Friendly vs. Ajax, 3 x 30 minutes (Kurtekotten)
  • Sunday, 20 July – Sunday, 3 August: No training
  • Monday, 4 August, TBC: Preseason restarts
  • Tuesday, 5 August: Bayer 04 season opener
  • Saturday, 9 August, 13:00 CEST: Friendly vs. KVC Westerlo (Kurtekotten)
  • Friday, 15 August, 12:00 CEST: Friendly vs. PSV Eindhoven, 3 x 45 minutes (Kurtekotten)
  • Sunday, 17 August – Sunday, 24 August: Training camp in Rieden (Bavaria)

2–2 in Copenhagen – Werkself with a frantic final phase in UCL opener

A nerve-wracking start to Europe's premier club competition! On Matchday 1 of the group stage of the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League, the Werkself drew 2-2 (0-1) with Danish record champions FC Copenhagen. After an early goal from Jordan Larsson (9'), the Werkself equalised late on with another direct free kick from Alejandro Grimaldo (82'). The hosts responded just four minutes later with a goal that put them 2-1 up. But Leverkusen refused to give up and, within five minutes, Pantelis Hatzidiakos was forced into scoring an own goal (90+1) to make it 2-2, which is how the game ended.
