"We've had Carlotta on our radar for a number of years," explained Bayer 04 Women sporting director Achim Feifel. "We're therefore delighted that the signing has now come off. She possesses great dynamism and attacking drive, is aggressive, assertive and can be used in several positions."
Wamser was named in the senior German national team squad for the first time on Tuesday for the two upcoming matches in the UEFA Women's Nations League. Since her Bundesliga debut in 2021, she's played 100 games to date for SGS Essen, 1. FC Köln and Eintracht Frankfurt and scored 14 goals. For the German Football Association (DFB) junior teams, she's registered 19 goals in 37 appearances from U1 5 to U23 level.
"I've been following Leverkusen's development very closely for a long time," said Wamser. "In my view the club has continually improved, particularly in the last two years, thanks also to having many young players. I like the very aggressive and attacking style of football. I want to play my part in continuing that path and challenging for the top positions. Before that, I'm extremely happy to have been given the trust of the national team coach for the upcoming camp. I want to test myself against the best at international level."
