Four Bayer 04 Women are in action with the Germany U23 team, set up last year, in their third block of fixtures. Selina Ostermeier, Kristin Kögel, Julia Mickenhagen and Sofie Zdebel are on board when the team led by Germany coach Kathrin Peter travel to face England in Walsall on Thursday in the next round of internationals and that is followed on Monday by a game against the Netherlands on the Algarve. Katharina Piljic, a regular first choice in the team in the last two international breaks, was called up again, but she is currently recovering from an ankle injury in Leverkusen.
Winter signing Ruby Grant is in the England U23 squad for a friendly against France next Tuesday. Werkself central defender Emilie Bragstad is also set to play on Friday for the Norway U23s in a Scandinavian clash with Sweden.
Three Leverkusen players will be involved on the first two matchdays of the new Nations League fixtures. Lilla Turanyi with Hungary faces Belarus in Serbia on Friday and then Finland on Tuesday. Striker Cornelia Kramer is in action on the same days at home to Sweden and then away to Italy.
