Katowice compact: Women start training camp

The Bayer 04 Women have started their summer training camp a day after the men: The Werkself group checked into their team HQ in Katowice after a two and a half hour flight and then completed the first training session. The team led by coach Roberto Pätzold will prepare there for the new season in the Google Pixel Women's Bundesliga until Monday 5 August.

The Germany U19 captain Pauline Bartz is also part of the tour group but will not be able to take part in training due to a skin disorder. Therefore, youth player Chiara Kaiser, who was involved in the first part of the pre-season, has joined the group. The six summer signings Caroline Kehrer, Cornelia Kramer, Shen Menglu, Katharina Piljić, Juliette Vidal plus Vanessa Haim, signed on Sunday, are also at the training camp.

The Leverkusen tour group took off from Düsseldorf at 10.25 CEST. After a stop in the Polish capital they landed in Katowice in the early afternoon. The squad is staying at the Monopol Hotel until Monday.

First training session in the evening

Lunch was followed by the first training session in the evening at the training ground in the neighbouring Sosnowiec. The focus was on build-up play and playing down the wings. Seven further training sessions are planned up to Monday. On Wednesday there is a friendly against Czarni Sosnowiec to celebrate the one hundredth anniversary of the club. The kick-off at the Arcelormittal Park Sosnowiec is at 19.24 CEST.
