A total of 24 outfield players and three goalkeepers were on board the flight from Düsseldorf in the morning. The two Bundesliga keepers Friederike Repohl and Anne Moll were joined by youth goalkeeper Louisa Remien. Charlotte Voll will join the group on Thursday and continue her rehab in Poland following her shoulder operation.
The Germany U19 captain Pauline Bartz is also part of the tour group but will not be able to take part in training due to a skin disorder. Therefore, youth player Chiara Kaiser, who was involved in the first part of the pre-season, has joined the group. The six summer signings Caroline Kehrer, Cornelia Kramer, Shen Menglu, Katharina Piljić, Juliette Vidal plus Vanessa Haim, signed on Sunday, are also at the training camp.
The Leverkusen tour group took off from Düsseldorf at 10.25 CEST. After a stop in the Polish capital they landed in Katowice in the early afternoon. The squad is staying at the Monopol Hotel until Monday.
Lunch was followed by the first training session in the evening at the training ground in the neighbouring Sosnowiec. The focus was on build-up play and playing down the wings. Seven further training sessions are planned up to Monday. On Wednesday there is a friendly against Czarni Sosnowiec to celebrate the one hundredth anniversary of the club. The kick-off at the Arcelormittal Park Sosnowiec is at 19.24 CEST.
In addition, several team activities are planned during the training camp including visiting a theme park. Bayer04.de will bring daily reports on the Bayer 04 Women's team in Poland.
The Black and Reds started the second part of the pre-season last Friday at the Kurtekotten Performance Centre after a two-week break. On returning from Katowice there are three more friendlies against European opponents: first away to Anderlecht on 11 August then at Standard Liege on 17 August and finally at home to Fortuna Sittard on 23 August.
The new season in the Google Pixel Women's Bundesliga begins with the away game at SC Freiburg on 31 August (kick-off: 14.00 CEST). The Werkself are in action in the second round of the DFB Pokal a week later. The full summer schedule for the Women's team can be found HERE.
