Youth League: U19s away to Villarreal in last 16
The Bayer 04 U19s will face Villarreal CF in Spain in the 2025/26 UEFA Youth League round of 16. That was the result of the draw made at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland on Friday afternoon.
"Villarreal won five out six matches, which says enough about their qualities," said coach Kevin Brok after the draw. "We also know, though, that if we perform at our best, we obviously have a chance. We'll go into this match to win and want to get to the next round."
Villarreal finished the league phase in fifth place with 15 of a possible 18 points. The opening 5-3 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur was followed by five straight wins against Juventus (1-0), Manchester City (2-1), Pafos FC (2-0), Borussia Dortmund (2-1) and Copenhagen FC (2-0).
The last-16 ties will be played on 3 or 4 February, with the exact date and kick-off time to be confirmed on 16 December.

The Leverkusen U19s qualified for the knockout phase of the competition for the first time by finishing 17th with 10 points. Brok's charges recorded victories against Copenhagen (2-0), PSV Eindhoven (3-2) and Newcastle United (2-1), as well as drawing against Paris Saint-Germain (2-2). The only defeats came against Benfica (5-0) and Manchester City (6-0).

'Rudi invites you': Successful premiere with Castro and Kießling
High spirits and previously untold stories: Around 100 Bayer 04 fans packed the Schwadbud fan pub in the east stand of the BayArena on Thursday evening to be there in person for the first instalment of the new series of events entitled “Rudi lädt ein” (Rudi invites you). They listened intently as long-serving Werkself players Gonzalo Castro and Stefan Kießling chatted with record appearance-maker Rüdiger Vollborn and presenter and stadium announcer Tobias Ufer about their many years together at the club, shared amusing anecdotes and revealed dressing room secrets. Anyone who missed the premiere can already look forward to the second instalment – on 12 May, Rudi will be testing the expert knowledge of Bayer 04 fans during a quiz night.

The Bundesliga home game against VfL Wolfsburg in the first half of the season was one of those classic ‘days to forget’ for Bayer 04 Women. It started with goalkeeper Charlotte Voll being shown a red card in the first minute of the game, and following a further sending-off, coach Roberto Pätzold's 9-women side ended up losing 5-1 to last season's runners-up.
