After three games in the Under 17 Bundesliga West, the U17s are undefeated with no goals against. The Bayer 04 youth team were first out of the blocks in a 3-0 win at VfL Bochum going 2-0 up after less than ten minutes.

A long diagonal ball from Aymen Azhil over the top of the Bochum defence was headed home by Marco Wolf on three minutes. Five minutes later, with Bayer 04 pressing the home team, Christopher Scott intercepted a back pass by the VfL defence and went on to double the lead.

bayer 04 alert and focussed

Even in this early stage of the game those were not the only chances for the visitors from Leverkusen. "The lads were alert and focused and very effective from the start," said coach Patrick Weiser.

That continued over the course of the match with the Bayer 04 youngsters succeeding in keeping out a resolute and battling opponent.

The game was decided just after the restart with Scott making it 3-0 on 48 minutes at the end of a quick move that started in the Bayer 04 box.

solid and well-organised

The good start to the campaign with seven points and five goals for with none against is the result of a focused pre-season according to coach Jan Hoepner: "We worked a lot on the basics of organisation and the lads have done well putting that into practice. That gives everybody more security in terms of bringing their strengths into our game.

The U17s going to the next match in second place in the table. The next fixture sees MSV Duisburg visit the Ulrich Haberland Stadium. The match is on Saturday at 11.00 CET. Entrance is free.
