Women’s head coach Robert de Pauw to leave Bayer 04 at end of season

Women’s head coach Robert de Pauw will not be extending his contract at Bayer 04 Leverkusen beyond the end of the current season. That is the result of an amicable discussion between the Dutchman and Thomas Eichin, director of professional teams, who is also in charge of the women's section at Bayer 04.

Robert de Pauw has been actively committed to the club since he took up his position and has done a great job. Together, we have forged a successful path over a long period of time,” said Eichin. “Now we have decided to take a new path at the start of the coming season.”

“We've had some good discussions since the winter break. In the end, we came to the decision to go our separate ways,” said de Pauw. “We had two successful years in which we worked well together. But now I'm looking forward to taking on a new challenge elsewhere. Until then, we want to get everything out of the season together and achieve our goals.”

Leverkusen are currently fifth in the Bundesliga with 21 points after 15 games, while the Werkself missed out on a semi-final spot in the DFB Cup with a 2-1 defeat to Essen at the BayArena. De Pauw took over in the summer of 2022 and led Bayer 04 Women to fifth place in the table last year. He had previously won the league and cup in the Netherlands with the women’s team at Twente.

New plan for the Bayer 04 Campus: Area reduced by a third, green corridor widened

Bayer 04 has presented the groups on the Monheim council with extensively revised proposals for the planned Campus. As part of constructive discussions, the club presented a plan to the CDU, SPD, Greens, FDP, PETO and the Left Party that envisages a one-third reduction in the area of the site on Alfred-Nobel-Strasse. The distance to neighbours will be increased by almost 60 percent. The green corridor will therefore be significantly larger than previously planned. Here are the main changes.
