#B04eSports: Two defeats on double matchday

The Bayer 04 eSports players have had to relinquish their lead at the top of the North West division of the VBL Club Championship: The Black and Reds first lost 6-3 to Schalke 04 on Tuesday night and were then defeated by the same margin by Eintracht Braunschweig. ‘DETO’ and ‘B04_DUBZJE’ played the individual games, ‘MARC_LDW23’ joined the console experts for the double matches.

The opener on the night saw Kai ‘DETO’ Wollin take on the Schalke eSports player Joe 'JH7' Hellmann on PlayStation 4 but he ended up losing 4-0 against his 17-year-old opponent. "I just couldn't get into the game," said the Leverkusen player after the final whistle. And his teammate Fabian ‘B04_DUBZJE’ De Cae was unable to pick up points in the one-on-one encounter on Xbox – he lost 2-0 against the 18-year-old Schalke player Julius 'JULI' Kühle.

There was more joy for the #B04eSports team in the two-against-two clash. New signing Marc ‘MARC_LDW23’ Landwehr played alongside De Cae on Xbox – and, together with the experienced console professional, he succeeded in picking up the first three points of the night with a 2-1 victory against the Royal Blues with a late brace from the virtual Samed Onur.

‘DETO’ wins individual match

In the late evening, there were three games against Eintracht Braunschweig on matchday eight. Former world champion 'DETO' was successful in his clash on PS4 against his opponent from Lower Saxony with a 2-1 win against Can ‘QUARE7MA’ Kayhan. ‘B04_DUBZJE’ then lost 4-1 against his Braunschweig opponent Dominik ‘DOMINIK’ Schwerdtfeger in the individual match on Xbox.

The following doubles match ended in a disappointing 3-2 defeat with a late goal for Eintracht settling the result. #B04eSports are currently in a healthy third position in the table but a number of opponents have played one game less.

"Evenly-matched" division

The experienced Leverkusen player ‘DETO’ drew a first interim conclusion after eight matches in the VBL Club Championship. "Our division (North-West, ed.) is the stronger of the two and is incredibly evenly-matched. It all depends on your form on the day," said the former world champion and last year's champion of Germany on PS4.
