With former #B04eSports player Marvin Hintz as coach, Sean "Sean_LDW07" Landwehr opened the clash with Darmstadt. He put opponent Piotr "POL_BEAST4" Wrona under early pressure and deservedly took a 1-0 lead after 18 minutes, which is how it stayed until half-time. After saving a penalty, Sean extended this lead to 3-0. Wrona did pull a goal back in the 67th minute, but Landwehr didn't concede any more and saw out a deserved opening victory for Leverkusen.
Sean's cousin Marc "MARC_LDW23" Landwehr naturally wanted to build on this victory in his one-on-one match. However, the Leverkusen player fell behind against Darmstadt's Kaan “XKAAN61_” Tuncer after just five minutes. There were numerous chances for both sides after that, but the next goal didn't come until the 70th minute – and it belonged to Landwehr! With this equaliser in his singles match behind him, the #B04eSports player was now more determined and crowned the cousins' play-off appearance with a late double strike and another 3-1 win.
As a result, the Leverkusen team have reached the final of the Virtual Bundesliga Club Championship for the third time in a row. This will be played in a knockout format, where the next opponents are Hamburger SV. It kicks off in the Hanseatic city on Saturday 7 March at 17:00 CET. The match will be shown live HERE on the VBL Twitch channel.
#B04eSports had finished the league phase in ninth place overall, missing out on the top eight - who qualify directly for the final round - by just one point.
