Anybody who follows the VBL will be well aware of the defensive strength of Marc ‘MARC_LDW23’ Landwehr. The Leverkusen PlayStation pro kept a clean sheet in the 1v1 against Hannover's Riad ‘H96_RIAD’ Fazlija – and he was able to emerge with a 1-0 victory thanks to his strike late on. The first three points of the evening were secured.
In the following 1v1 on Xbox, #B04eSports player Fabian ‘B04_DUBZJE’ de Cae demonstrated his qualities. He clocked up a convincing 5-2 win against 96 pro Jannik ‘H96_JANNIK’ Berg. As the following 2v2 for Landwehr and Paul ‘B04_PAUL’ Degner ended goalless, with Leverkusen again proving their quality in defence, the match ended in a clear 7-1 victory over the team top of the league.
The later games were against VfL Wolfsburg who are below the Black and Reds in the VBL table. Landwehr ground out a goalless draw in the PlayStation 1v1 against the Wolves player Khalid ‘KHALIDGRL03’ Gürel. The next two matches ended in narrow defeats: De Cae lost 1-0 on Xbox, the 2v2 finished with a 2-1 defeat.
The #B04eSports team remain eighth after matchdays 17 and 18 with the gap to the targeted top six just three points. The Black and Reds are in action next Tuesday evening, 8 February, with the fixtures against FC St Pauli (18.00 CET) plus Hamburg SV (20.00 CET). These games will also be streamed on the club’s Bayer 04 Twitch channel.
Exciting experiences and exclusive insights into the Werkself and the BayArena awaited the young footballers from the BA04 Football Academy Guangzhou in China during their visit to the Rhineland this week. As well as taking part in a joint training session with the Bayer 04 Football Academy, the youngsters marvelled at the Bundesliga club’s stadium during a guided tour. The highlight of the visit was a private press conference with former Bayer 04 striker Stefan Kießling, during which he shared tips from his own career with the young players. On Saturday afternoon, 10 October, the group will round off their visit by supporting the Werkself in the away match in Mainz.

Fun, games and promising talent: At the fourth Bayer 04 Junior Girls’ Talent Day at the Kurtekotten training centre, 90 football-mad girls had the chance to put themselves forward for the Werkself youth teams. During a 90-minute training session, children born between 2011 and 2019 had the chance to demonstrate their skills.

Despite the international break, numerous Werkself fans turned up at the BayArena on Saturday 3 October. The occasion: Bayer 04, together with Bayer Vital and main sponsor BarmeniaGothaer, organised a Health Day. In the stadium’s Premium Lounge, guests listened to fascinating talks on the subject of cancer, featuring, amongst others, Bayer 04 record appearance holder Rüdiger Vollborn and former Werkself player Hans Sarpei. Afterwards, young and old alike enjoyed interactive stations such as a grip strength test and eye pupil test.
