Both Klink and Landwehr have been at Bayer 04 for many years. Klink joined the youth section from Wahlscheider SV in 2009 and finally moved up to the Bundesliga squad in 2011/12. Since then, the 25-year-old has been between the sticks for the Black and Reds – and will now also demonstrate her skill on the controller for her club.
“I only really got started on FIFA when I was 18. I prefer to play a couple of games in the evening after training,” said the Engelskirchen-born keeper who – as a typical professional player – is very ambitious about the forthcoming virtual challenges. “I’m happy to be surprised as a newcomer in this field. But just as it is on the pitch, my target here too is to clock up as many wins as possible with my teammates.”
In addition to Klink, Marc Landwehr will also start for Leverkusen in the new season in the Virtual Bundesliga (VBL) beginnning on 10/11 November. The 18-year-old from Leverkusen has been a passionate Werkself fan for many years. Landwehr has taken part in several Bayer 04 tournaments in the past that included some impressive results at the start of the year in the #B04eSports Online Cup that helped him to be taken on at Bayer 04.
Klink and Landwehr will join training sessions with the Leverkusen eSports players Fabian ‘B04_DUBZJE’ De Cae and Kai ‘DETO’ Wollin to learn from the experienced gamers. Above all, DETO will act as the sparring partner for the new duo as Klink and Landwehr, like Wollin, are most at home on PlayStation 4. “I’m looking forward to sharing experiences and learning from each other,” said Klink.

€1,000 and food for a good cause: In keeping with the long-standing cooperation between Bayer 04 and the Tafel Leverkusen e.V. food bank, the U19s are also supporting the charitable organisation in the region. In addition to the generous cheque the team were able to donate to an organisation of their choice as a result of their participation in the UEFA Youth League, coach Kevin Brok's lads donated €500 worth of food - financed by their own team kitty. Ferdinand Pohl, Jesper Schlich and Co. also actively helped to stow the food in the Tafel's premises.
