Bayer 04 reached another milestone in the first half of the year. The 70,000 member mark was broken for the first time in the club's history. This means the number of members has doubled since the beginning of 2023. Bayer 04 fans can now be reached at regional, national and international level and the club remains deeply rooted in the city and region.
An important component of membership for national and international fans are the member networks, which give members the opportunity to find and meet like-minded people from their respective regions and to exchange ideas with them on a wide variety of topics relating to Bayer 04. In the past year, there were once again numerous network meetings in this context, as well as joint tours to the Werkself matches, such as in Hamburg, where members from the North, North-West and Rhine-Main regions, among others, took a boat trip through the harbour of Hamburg as part of the away match at FC St. Pauli. Meanwhile, the Luxembourg member network has been launched, which is now the fourth international member network alongside those in the Netherlands, Belgium and Switzerland. You can find the member networks HERE.

At the end of the 2024/25 season, around 350 Bayer 04 members had the chance to fulfil their dream of standing on the hallowed turf of the BayArena. Members of the Lions Club (Löwenclub) and the Silver Lions (Silberlöwen) first competed against each other in two tournaments. Club members then followed in the afternoon. The season finale attracted more than 1,000 visitors throughout the day, who contributed to a great atmosphere and raised over €1,500 for a good cause as part of a raffle.

As part of the season opener, almost 50 Bayer 04 Club members had the opportunity to put questions to the CEO, Fernando Carro, in the press conference room at the BayArena. The open and lively Q&A session covered personal, business and sporting topics. One member took the opportunity to personally thank Fernando Carro for the double season and then asked how he remembered the moments after the final whistle of the decisive home game against Werder Bremen. In response, the CEO lost his voice for a moment. He then said: "I will never forget those moments". There was loud and supportive applause from the members. It was a very personal and poignant moment that summed up the event well.

2025 once again offered Bayer 04 Club members unforgettable experiences through the joint club tours to various away matches. Numerous Club members once again travelled to support their Werkself away from the BayArena - be it on Carnival Saturday in Frankfurt, at the end of the season at Mainz or at Champions League and DFB Pokal matches in Munich, Dortmund, Manchester and Lisbon. In total, there were more club tours than ever before and more organised tours await club members in 2026.

It was a disappointing night in Athens: The Werkself lost 2-0 away to Olympiacos on Matchday 7 in the league phase of the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League campaign. In a match that was intense and fiery from the outset, the high-pressing home side made the better start and took the lead through Costinha on two minutes. Although the Werkself had a number of chances to equalise, the clinical Greek side increased the lead to 2-0 shortly before half-time (45+1’). In the second half, Leverkusen once again gave their all and showed total commitment but, despite their best efforts, the Black and Reds were unable to break down the Olympiacos defence on the night.
